Decided to day trip today to the Petrified Forest/Painted Desert. Hadn't been out this way in quite some time.
Find it interesting that where we are in N. AZ was once a rain forest, just north of the Equator. Apparently approximately where Costa Rica now lies.To look at the current landscape and think that it was once lush, green, with rivers, and lots of vegetation is mind boggling
Some of the trees of the petrified forest
Wondering how the petrification process happens?
Antelope.
Petrified tree bridge.
Telling us all about the local topography. Personally wasn't so sure about this guy. Seemed a bit shady.
Checking out the views. So much vastness and open space.
And this is why I don't take selfies. Well that and the fact that selfie part of my camera is broken. I'm impressed you still have the glasses, Audra.Reading the trail guide.
Ended the day with a quick stop in Holbrook. Might have to come out and support the Wigwam Hotel some day.
