Las Vegas, Nevada

Thanks to Mark and Jen for inviting me to tag along with you to Vegas.  Hadn't been in awhile even though it's only a couple hours away.
Lake Mead
The drive is definitely a lot of vast openness, but there's some sights to see.

I know that the rule is "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."  But, since the trip was pretty low key I figure it's ok to share
The Double Down Saloon.  I will say that after being assured that "Ass Juice" was not a way to punk the new guy at the bar, I did try some and it's not bad
It took a bit for everyone's eyes to adjust after walking into the Double Down

Our next stop.  The Scotch Egg was surprisingly tasty.

The afternoon was a little R&R by the pool and then some Thai for dinner.

After we headed over to Fremont Street.  I hadn't been to Vegas in awhile and I don't recall so much nudity here
Women with G-strings and pasties, and men with just G-strings.
 all before 10pm.

I had Saturday to myself.  Which was really nice.  Slept in and then ventured to the pool

Found a chair in the shade, brought a book and relaxed for the day.  I even managed to finish my book.  I know not very Vegas-esque
Never made it down to the "Strip" The Mayweather vs.  McGregor fight was happening so decided to avoid the crowds.  Next Time

Wet Beaver Creek, AZ

Went to Wet Beaver Creek for some hiking and swimming today.  I typically don't make posts for day trips so close to home.  But, today felt like it deserved its own.  Audra, Shakti and I ventured down to towards Beaver Creek with the intention of making it to a swimming hole called "The Crack"

It was definitely warm, but we pushed along
determined to get there.  The GPS said we had 3.5 miles to our destination
Prickly Pear Cactus.  Anyone know if these can just be eaten raw?
 We kept walking and walking
 Yet, still no water
 Holy crap it was hot
Shakti was just running from shady spot to shady spot
After walking more than a mile past where our destination was suppose to be, gaining some major elevation and accidentally spilling half my water we decided it was time to turn around
On our way back we found a little spot to cool off in the creek. Shakti bolted down to the creek.  Poor girl was so hot.
Ended up hiking 8.5 miles and drove to where we could just walk up to the water.  We were all so happy to cool off
Shakti loves getting in the water to cool off
As long as she can stand
Shakti was not happy to try swimming. Guess this girl needs her feet on the ground
Was a fun and exhausting day.  Glad to be home with my feet up.  Thanks for a great time Audra and Shakti
